Application of IoT technology in smart cities

Penta, in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy - Pula County Chamber and Faculty of Informatics Pula, organized a presentation about IoT technology. The presentation was held on June 19, 2019 at the premises of the Croatian Chamber of Economy - County Chamber of Pula.

Representatives of the Faculty of Informatics Pula Siniša Sovilj, Ingrid Hrga and Nikola Tankovic presented the programs that are carried out at the Faculty and especially the projects implemented by the students. Projects are based on IoT technology and are focused on concrete, practical solutions.

A concrete example of the application of IoT technology in smart cities was presented by Penta's project manager Oscar Vujicic. The AMANDA project is a 4.3 million EUR research and innovation project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, with five industry partners from European countries, including Penta, institutes and faculties.

The aim of the project is to create an autonomous and miniaturized array of sensors that can be deployed in smart cities in the areas of traffic control, air quality and noise control, as well as in the protection of buildings and archaeological sites. The project started in 2018 and will last for three years, with more detailed information available at: www.amanda-project.eu

The event was intended for companies from the transport, industry and IT sectors, utility and public city companies and local and regional (regional) self-government.
