BusCARD LIGHT ticketing system in Šibenik-Knin County

At the end of September, a presentation and education of the new line transport network drivers in the Šibenik-Knin County was held in the "Trokut Šibenik" entrepreneurship centre. Šibenik-Knin County was the first in Croatia to complete the process of transitioning from the current market model to the model of public line transport, and PENTA for the needs of the Client VINCEK and SLAVONIJA BUS developed and implemented the 1st phase of the BusCARD LIGHT ticketing system. The project equips 48 of the Client's vehicles with driver terminals with the functions of driver registration, line, departure, sale of paper one-time tickets, validation of NFC/RFID cards, paper QR tickets purchased outside the vehicle, and data exchange with the BusCARD SIP platform. The project also includes LED information panels that will display the exact time and date, the name of the next station/stop, as well as the associated program and server support.

The new line transport network in the county has been in use since October 1 and includes 29 lines, with at least 5 departures per day, as well as 2 inter-county lines, and what is especially important also includes lines that were not economically profitable until now. The network of line transport connected the entire county, and the vehicles operating in the county have the name ŠIKbus with the recognizable logo of Šibenik-Knin County.

In the public transport system within Šibenik-Knin County, the network of lines is structured according to zones, and ticket prices depend on the number of zones through which a person travels. A zone is a certain geographical area within which a single tariff applies. Travelling within one or more zones defines the price of the ticket. The following transport tickets are sold in this system: single ticket (valid for a period of time between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the number of zones through which a person travels) and prepaid card (includes general/working, student and pensioner/disabled tickets, valid for a calendar month and covers selected zones according to the price list).
