On Thursday, December 7, 2023, the Kick-off Meeting was held on the island of Krk and marked the beginning of the implementation of the EU project "CLIMATE FRIENDLY CAMP", in which Penta participates together with partners Camping Glavotok, 3E projekti and Sensum. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the competent authority in the process of selecting projects as part of the Call for Grants "Strengthening Sustainability and Encouraging the Green and Digital Transition of Entrepreneurs in the Tourism Sector - Group 3", chose our "CLIMATE FRIENDLY CAMP" project proposal and the project was awarded grants for research and development of an innovative application and business model that reduces CO₂ emissions, minimizes the impact on the environment, increases resistance to the risks of climate change and prioritizes circular tourism and more intelligent management of resources. The project represents an innovative business model that contributes to solving critical challenges in tourism, especially in reducing the risk of climate change and green and digital transition. In this way, the project contributes to more sustainable and resilient tourism.

Our innovative business model includes a multifunctional solution that involves the use of local drinking water, the elimination of plastic bottles using circular packaging, green infrastructure planning, composting, growing fruits and vegetables in the camp for local needs, eco-mobility, monitoring climate results with a meteorological station and calculating the carbon footprint. The model is complemented by an innovative application that connects all the mentioned factors and offers several functionalities through constant access and information of all stakeholders in the chain. All digital data will be integrated and processed using IoT technology and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and displayed in an interactive and multifunctional application (web and mob application) that will enable the display of CO₂ savings in real-time as a result of monitoring and using all technical solutions at the camp level as well as user-level.

Each partner will research and develop a "CLIMATE FRIENDLY CAMP" in different ecosystem areas in the tourism value chain. PENTA will be responsible in the area of "Digital Industry" for the development of digital procedures, solutions and models based on sustainable business and for the use of artificial intelligence and new technologies to empower consumers in making sustainable decisions, as well as in the area of "Research and Innovation in Technologies and Digital Services" for the activities of developing innovative, sustainable and accessible forms of tourist services in which advanced technologies are used.
